What stage do we invest at?

Our typical stage of investment is Seed, Pre-Series A and Series A. We also reserve capital to continue to support our portfolio companies beyond that. We typically partner with companies where there is product market fit, or some early signs of it, and typically where there is some commercial validation. We like to be able to speak with existing customers and hear how much they love you and your product.

We do tend to break ‘rules’ though, where appropriate.

Our guiding purpose is to partner with exceptional founders building world-class businesses and helping grow those founders as people and CEOs so that they can achieve their dreams.With that founder focused mindset, we do occasionally invest in pre-revenue and pre-product opportunities and work with the founders to bring the product and business to life.

We love meeting founders early, and potentially investing at that stage too, so please reach out regardless of stage if you think we’d be able to add value to you and your business.

What kinds of companies do we invest in?

We are sector and technology agnostic and look to invest in exceptional founders building companies in large markets with a competitive advantage.

We have invested in founders leading B2B SaaS businesses, FinTech, marketplaces, software, hardware and from cyber security, construction tech and Web3 to D2C digital-first cremation business.

What do we look for in an idea and founders?

We look at ideas that are going to improve or disrupt the world;

  • Is your idea, distinctive and unique, with a durable competitive advantage?
  • Does it capture a potentially large market, ideally on a global scale?
  • Are you able to demonstrate existing traction and early demand for the value proposition?

Nevertheless, here at OIF, it’s always about the founders. It is one of the most important factors we take into account during the decision-making process. We want to partner with founders who demonstrate great leadership qualities and vast domain expertise. The path of a founder isn't a linear one. It is riddled with uncertainty, rejection, pride, exhaustion and elation. Therefore, we want to invest in founders who are diligent, dedicated and open minded.
